The Mens Team:
The selection procedure
is as follows:
Points will be allocated to players relative
to their finishing gross position against the
other Island Games hopefuls.
In 18 hole competitions
7 pts for highest finishing position,
6 pts for second highest, etc... lowest
finisher of the seven players will recieve 1
point. For Major competitions the points
are 1st: 11pts, 2nd: 9pts, 3rd:
7pts, 4th 6pts, 5th: 4pts,
6th: 3pts, 7th: 2pts.
In an event should two
or more players have identical scores the points
will be split e.g. in an 18 hole event two
players tied for 1st would receive 6.5 pts each.
Note: There will be no countbacks on back nine.
If not all competitors
compete in an event points will be awarded as
normal e.g. 5 competitors in an 18 hole event
- 1st 7pts, 2nd 6pts, ... 5th 3pts; the
two competitors who did not play would split
the remaining balance of the points e.g.
they would both receive 1.5 pts.
In the event of a tie,
the number of top places will decide (no preferance given to 36 hole events over an 18 hole event). If this
still results in a tie then the number of second
then third, etc... places will be used to decide
the final four players.
Each players points
total (and final ranking) will be made up from
their best eight scores from the eleven
events.
